Make Goldilocks jealous – Perfect hair isn’t just a fairy tale.

I’m snowed in today, which makes it a perfect day to deep condition my hair. One of my favorites is Frederic Fekkai Protein Rx Reparative Treatment Mask. Even on really long, thick hair, I just end up using a slightly larger than silver dollar size dollop of it to coat my hair from root to ends. It luxuriously coats the hair shaft and plumps each strand with moisture that lasts and lasts. If you are just doing “maintance deep conditioning”, about 30 minutes before you rinse it out with cool water. When my hair is really dry or fried, I leave it in overnight and then rinse it out in the morning with a little warmer water.

Be sure to massage some extra into your ends to keep them in top shape - it’s pretty unlikely that the oil from your scalp makes it all the way down to your ends if you have long hair.

Bonus tip: you can use this mask as a styling aid. Take a small amount and rub it between your hands and apply to wet hair like a styling cream and then blow-dry it in. I’ve done both straight and curly/wavy styles with this technique, and it’s a great way to deep condition your hair when you are on the go. My hair doesn’t look dirty or greasy with it in like this – just make sure to use a small amount, and you can adjust it each time you try it after if it isn’t enough.

Frederic Fekkai Protein Rx Reparative Treatment Mask is available at Sephora.com for $28.50.

Infusium 23 leave-in treatment, Original for Damaged Hair is one of the few products that has stood the test of time for me – I have been using it for years and prevents split ends from forming. It doesn’t weigh hair down at all, nor does it dull shine or gunk up your hair. In fact, my hair is way shinier and bouncier when it’s in. It’s like I have a completely different, more luxurious head of hair when I use it daily – and when I run out and don’t have any more in the house, my hair is completely unmanageable. This stuff is astounding.

Simply apply it to wet or dry hair and massage it in after you comb it through. Don’t rub - just a light massage for a couple of seconds. If you apply a small amount to a blowout you can extend it for a couple more days if you use a hairdryer down the length of the hair shaft, and you can refresh or add waves by adding a bit to dry hair and gathering up your hair in your hand and aiming a dryer with a diffuser attachment to it.
